Roadrain® Roadway Drainage Geocomposite

Roadrain® Roadway Drainage Geocomposite, engineered to improve drainage and/or frost heave potential, incorporates a compressive resistant, void-maintaining drainage system into the pavement structure. Roadrain® is manufactured by fusing a medium weight nonwoven geotextile to a Tri-Planar Core. The Tri-Planar Core gives Roadrain® its high compressive strength, minimizing geotextile intrusion enough to maintain a significant air void to provide a positive capillary break. Roadrain has excellent fluid transmission characteristics, equivalent to free draining base materials, it is readily available and installs quickly and easily.

Roadrain's® Tri-Planar core structure provides unmatched long-term performance for roadway drainage. It has been proven to maintain
flow capacity under severe cyclic and static loading conditions.

Unobstructed flow channels minimize geotextile intrusion, maintaining a significant air space to provide a positive capillary break.

Used under rigid or flexible pavements, Roadrain® can:

  • Quickly remove subsurface water from the pavement.
  • Effectively separate structural fill from the native soil.
  • Reinforce the base course and restrain a weak subgrade.
  • Provide a positive capillary break.
  • Reduce damage from frost heave and subsequent thaw.

Roadrain is sold on rolls, 12.5ft wide x 200ft long.

Installed under the base aggregate, Roadrain® significantly shortens the drainage path. The improved drainage provided by Roadrain® increases the structural support of the pavement system, increasing the life and/or performance of the pavement.
Roadrain® provides rapid removal of water. Placed directly beneath the pavement surface, Roadrain® collects any infiltrating water before it enters the base.
At a lower depth, under frost-susceptible soils, Roadrain® acts as a capillary break and helps eliminate frost heave.
